hehe! that's so funny, i'm glad i made skin as white as the moon cool!
(you're not english are you?) they're meant to be a series of kind of english eccentrics, hence the old dresses and wallpaper, but also the pale skin as we pretty much have no sun
thanks for visiting

wow....... you have this way of painting that's completely different from anything else I've seen. Somehow you convey an almost cut-out effect with paints -- so smooth, yet somewhat vectorish as well I love the wallpaper, I love her hair and face, and I love the way she seems to loom over (me) -- as if the view is a tiny bit below eye-level. *her left hand (tucked under) is the only part that doesn't completely fit, but I really am amazed by it as a whole Where did you get the reference for that background? I've been searching and searching for old wall paper and can't seem to find it anywhere! (I only get crappy old whereas I want hot old)
thanks winst i'm glad you like my stuff as i'm a big fan of your talents! i appreciate the comments
i think it can be hard to come up with a good background for a 'portrait' i think this wallpaper kind of adds a little character, and helps the women jump off the canvas a little.
i was using the damask patterns from [link] where there's loads to choose from (and i just then spend hours copying them across to my painting by hand! but i think its worth it in the end)
look forward to seeing if you try it out
i saw your comments and i had to check out your gallery too.
this is such a pretty painting. she's kind of doll-like with her pale skin and everything. and i got to give you some extra credit for painting the wallpaper. i've done that too recently and it was soo painful. i thought i was never going to finish it... next time i'll just find a piece of wallpaper and glue it on the canvas.
This one is gorgeous...I love it!The wallpaper, the lady herself...the whole thing just looks Perfect!I absolutelt love the colors you´ve used and HOW you have used them....the paleness and the "old fashioned" look of it...
i like for them to be as unique as i can make - when i started out with the 'english rose' girl i thought that maybe it'd be a series of very beautiful english eccentrics, hence the pale complexions, old fashioned wallpaper and odd fashion - will try and do more!!
in the middle of another camper van now though, as they're easier!
